LG has expanded its xboom audio product line with the introduction of two new earbuds: the xboom Buds Plus and the xboom Buds Lite. Following the successful launch of the original xboom Buds in January, these latest additions aim to cater to a wider range of consumer preferences and budgets.

The Buds Plus, positioned as the premium offering, boasts a comprehensive suite of advanced features designed to enhance the listening experience.

The xboom Buds Plus utilizes adaptive EQ technology to dynamically adjust the sound profile in real time, compensating for variations in ear placement and ensuring optimal audio quality. Equipped with active noise cancellation (ANC) and three microphones for superior call clarity, the Buds Plus also includes a unique UV-sanitizing charging case.

LG claims this innovative feature eliminates 99.9% of surface bacteria after each use. Further enhancing its versatility, the case also doubles as a Bluetooth transmitter, making it ideal for in-flight entertainment. Battery life is rated at up to 10 hours on a single charge, extending to 30 hours with the charging case, which also supports wireless charging.

In contrast, the xboom Buds Lite focuses on providing a compelling combination of long battery life and ease of use. These earbuds offer an impressive 11.5 hours of playtime on a single charge, extending to 35 hours with the charging case – surpassing even the premium Buds Plus.

While featuring a streamlined version of ANC and four customizable EQ modes, the Buds Lite prioritizes extended listening time and affordability. The inclusion of multiple ear tip sizes ensures a comfortable and secure fit for a wide range of users.

Pricing for both the xboom Buds Plus and Buds Lite remains undisclosed, leaving consumers eagerly awaiting further announcements. While the original xboom Buds retailed at $109, it’s anticipated that the Buds Plus will command a higher price point, whereas the Buds Lite may offer a more budget-friendly alternative.

This latest expansion follows LG’s recent announcement of three new xboom speakers at CES 2024, demonstrating the company’s continued commitment to innovation in the audio market.
