Chinese automotive giant BYD is gearing up to introduce its inaugural electric pickup truck later this year, intensifying competition in the electric vehicle (EV) sector against global auto manufacturers like Ford and Tesla. The midsize-to-large pickup truck, designed for the global market, represents BYD’s ambitious foray into the electric pickup segment, the company announced in a press release.

The company sold 300,114 electric vehicles during this period, reflecting a 43% decrease compared to the preceding quarter of December 2023. Meanwhile, Tesla, BYD’s closest competitor, reported delivering 386,810 vehicles in the first quarter, experiencing a modest 8.5% decline in annual sales.
