China’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer, BYD, has introduced its first pure electric supercar model, the Yangwang U9, setting the stage for delivery commencement this summer. Priced at 1.68 million yuan ($233,400), the Yangwang U9 is BYD’s flagship offering, targeting high-performance electric car enthusiasts.

The Yangwang U9 boasts impressive performance metrics, accelerating from zero to 100 km/hour in just 2.36 seconds and achieving a top speed of 309.19 km/hour. This directly competes with renowned luxury car brands like Lamborghini and Ferrari. The introduction of the Yangwang U9 marks a significant expansion of BYD’s electric vehicle portfolio and signifies its ambition to compete in the high-performance electric supercar segment.

Key to the model’s exceptional performance are two core technologies – the e4 platform and the DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System. The e4 Platform is centered around four independent electric motors, providing agile and precise four-wheel independent torque output control. With a maximum output of 1,300 horsepower and a top torque of 1680Nm, the Yangwang U9 aims to revolutionize the pure electric supercar segment.

The DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System, another proprietary breakthrough by BYD, enables the Yangwang U9 to achieve maximum adjustable suspension travel of up to 75mm. It boasts a peak single-axis lifting speed of 500mm/s, facilitating an instantaneous lifting force of over 1 ton and allowing remarkable leap-up capabilities for the supercar.

It is equipped with the DiLink150 intelligent platform powered by customized 4nm 5G chips. The platform features an intelligent racing assistant, offering extensive track driving services with detailed information on nearly 30 racetracks across China. This emphasis on track performance aligns with the growing interest in high-performance electric vehicles for road and track use.

Inside the cockpit, the Yangwang U9 provides a premium driving experience with two 14-way adjustable seats for both the driver and passenger. Additionally, it features the Dynaudio Evidence Series high-end audio system, promising an immersive auditory experience.

BYD’s venture into the pure electric supercar segment is a strategic move to cater to a niche market and showcase the company’s technological prowess. The success of the Yangwang U9 could further elevate BYD’s standing in the competitive electric vehicle landscape.
