Elon Musk is threatening to sue Apple, accusing the tech giant of antitrust violations over the rankings of his Grok AI chatbot app. In a series of posts on his social media platform X, Musk claimed that Apple is making it “impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in the App Store.”

Musk’s main complaint is that Apple is unfairly promoting its partner OpenAI’s ChatGPT. He pointed out that while his X app is the #1 news app and Grok is #5 overall, neither is featured in Apple’s “Must-Have” section.

Meanwhile, ChatGPT holds the top spot, and Apple is prominently featuring a download link for OpenAI’s new GPT-5 model.
“xAI will take immediate legal action,” Musk declared.

This is the latest chapter in Musk’s ongoing feud with OpenAI, a company he co-founded but later left. He is already suing OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, alleging they abandoned their original mission to develop AI for the benefit of humanity.

Altman shot back at Musk’s latest claims, posting on X that the threat was a “remarkable claim” given what he’s heard about how Musk allegedly manipulates his own platform to benefit himself and harm competitors.

This isn’t the first time Apple has faced antitrust challenges. The U.S. Department of Justice is currently suing the company over its iPhone “monopoly” and was recently forced by a court to change its App Store payment rules.
