Elgato has launched a novel new webcam called the Facecam 4K, and it comes with a pro-grade feature never before seen on a webcam: the ability to mount interchangeable lens filters.
This new functionality allows users to attach any standard 49mm lens filter, opening up a world of creative possibilities. For example, you could use a polarizing filter to cut down on reflections from glasses or get creative with cinematic effects like diffusion filters. The company is even including a free polarizing filter with purchases from the official Elgato store.
Beyond the filters, the webcam offers solid specs. It records in 4K at 60 frames per second, uses a high-quality Sony sensor, and connects via USB-C. It also works with Elgato’s Camera Hub software, which gives users manual control over settings like ISO, shutter speed, and zoom.
The Facecam 4K is also compatible with Elgato’s Prompter, a teleprompter designed for streamers. Interestingly, it can even connect directly to the new Nintendo Switch 2, which could make for some truly cinematic reaction videos.
The new webcam is available now for $200. It’s similar to Elgato’s existing Facecam Pro, but that model costs $300 and doesn’t support the interchangeable filters.
