Saudi Arabian stocks closed slightly lower on Sunday as declines in the Energy & Utilities, Industrial Investment, and Real Estate Development sectors pressured the market. The Tadawul All Share Index fell 0.05% at the close, reflecting a mixed trading session with more declining stocks than advancing ones.
Despite the broader market downturn, several stocks posted strong gains. The session’s best performer was Mutakamela Insurance Co. (TADAWUL:8040), which surged 9.74% or 1.60 SAR, to close at 18.02. Following closely behind, Allied Cooperative Insurance Group SJSC (TADAWUL:8150) rose 8.55% or 1.26 SAR, to 16.00, while Saudi Arabian Cooperative Insurance (TADAWUL:8100) advanced 7.71% or 1.28 SAR, reaching 17.88 by the session’s end.
On the downside, Thimar Development Holding Co. (TADAWUL:4160) suffered the largest loss, tumbling 7.50% or 4.30 SAR to 53.00. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian Amiantit Co. (TADAWUL:2160) dropped 5.77% or 1.80 SAR to 29.40, and CHUBB Arabia Cooperative Insurance (TADAWUL:8240) lost 4.26% or 2.40 SAR, settling at 54.00. Overall, declining stocks outnumbered gainers, with 160 stocks falling, 150 advancing, and 31 remaining unchanged.
In the commodities market, crude oil prices slipped slightly. March crude oil futures declined 0.27%, or $0.20, to $72.53 per barrel. Similarly, Brent oil for April delivery dipped 0.29%, or $0.22, to $75.67 per barrel. Gold futures for April also retreated 0.36%, or $10.20, to $2,835.00 per troy ounce.
In currency trading, the EUR/SAR pair weakened by 0.26% to 3.89, while the USD/SAR remained unchanged at 3.75. The US Dollar Index Futures gained 0.55%, rising to 108.22.
