Unveiled at CES 2025, the Afeela 1 is now available for preorder, marking a major step in Sony’s diversification beyond consumer electronics into the automotive industry.

The Afeela 1 is powered by a 482-horsepower all-wheel-drive system and a 91 kWh battery. It offers an EPA-estimated range of 300 miles. It supports fast charging at 150 kW and is compatible with Tesla’s Supercharger network, ensuring convenience for long trips.

Equipped with an advanced suite of 40 sensors and cameras, the Afeela 1 features Level 2+ advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), providing functions such as automated parking and real-time environmental monitoring through lidar technology. The car’s AI-powered processor can handle up to 800 trillion operations per second, with potential for future autonomous driving upgrades.

Sony has prioritized the in-car experience with a range of entertainment and interactive features. The Afeela 1 includes an AI-powered voice assistant for intuitive interactions, a full dashboard-length screen for navigation and entertainment, and Sony’s 360 Reality Audio surround sound system for immersive audio. After an initial three-year complimentary period, some of these features will transition to a subscription model.

The design of the Afeela 1 blends aesthetics with sustainability, using high-quality, plant-derived, and recycled materials. The interior is optimized for passenger comfort with noise-canceling technology and strategically placed displays to enhance the entertainment experience.

Sony offers the Afeela 1 in two trims: the Origin, starting at $89,900, and the Signature, priced at $102,900. Preorders are open exclusively to California residents with a refundable reservation fee of $200. The Signature variant is slated for mid-2026 delivery, while the Origin trim will be available in 2027.
