Following its earlier announcement for the Asia Pacific market, Tesla has officially introduced the redesigned Model Y in North America and Europe. Despite the launch of the new version, Tesla continues to sell the original Model Y, offering both options on its website.
The new Model Y is available in the U.S. only in the long-range all-wheel-drive (AWD) launch series variant, starting at $46,490. This limited edition includes exclusive features, including special rear liftgate badges, puddle lights, and a unique doorsill plate.
The redesigned Model Y retains the familiar proportions of its predecessor but features a sleeker look with rounder edges, smaller headlights, and taillights. A new lightbar adds to its modern aesthetic. Inside, the vehicle has been upgraded with ambient lighting that wraps around most of the cabin, ventilated seats, and a larger 15.4-inch front touchscreen. Rear passengers will also benefit from an 8-inch Bluetooth-enabled rear screen display with a touch panel. The second-row seats now feature power recline and can fold flat for convenience.
The new Model Y also offers notable performance improvements. It offers an estimated range of 325 miles on a single charge, a top speed of 125 mph, and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds. The previous long-range AWD Model Y delivers a slightly lower range of 311 miles but a higher top speed of 135 mph and a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.8 seconds.
Deliveries for the redesigned Model Y are set to begin in March. Meanwhile, Tesla continues to offer the older version at a starting price of $31,490.
