Toyota has unveiled plans to construct a state-of-the-art paint facility at its Georgetown, Kentucky, manufacturing complex as part of a $922 million investment. This marks the second major project announced at the automaker’s largest global production site this year.

In February, Toyota committed $1.3 billion to the facility, a move designed to accommodate the production of an all-new three-row electric SUV for the U.S. market. Together, these investments highlight the company’s focus on modernization and sustainability. Though neither project will create new jobs at the factory, which currently employs about 10,000 workers, Toyota emphasized that the enhancements reinforce its dedication to long-term job stability.

The new paint facility, slated to open in 2027, will span 1 million square feet and incorporate advanced technologies to improve environmental efficiency. Toyota anticipates the facility will reduce carbon emissions by 30% and save 1.5 million gallons of water annually. Additionally, the facility will allow the automaker to expand its range of vehicle color options, providing greater customization for customers.

Kerry Creech, president of Toyota Kentucky, highlighted the company’s dual focus on aesthetics and sustainability, noting that the advanced paint technologies will lead the industry in environmentally responsible manufacturing. Toyota also stated that the investment aligns with its goal of achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050 and will increase production flexibility for future vehicles.

Since breaking ground at the Georgetown site in 1986, Toyota’s investment in the Bluegrass State has exceeded $11 billion. Located just 16 miles north of Lexington, the plant remains a cornerstone of Toyota’s North American operations, reflecting the company’s commitment to both innovation and environmental stewardship.
