Key points

  • Copilot, Microsoft’s AI assistant, is now integrated into select Samsung TVs.
  • Users can ask questions, receive recommendations, and access visual aids through voice commands.
  • Copilot’s on-screen representation is a customizable talking blob.
  • No Microsoft account is required, but one enhances personalization.

Microsoft is expanding the reach of its AI assistant, Copilot, beyond computers and smartphones. The company announced the integration of Copilot into select 2025 Samsung Smart TVs, bringing the AI experience to the living room. Users can interact with Copilot through voice commands, asking questions ranging from general knowledge inquiries to show recaps and movie recommendations.

The responses are not limited to audio; Copilot can also provide visual aids, such as cards displaying movie summaries complete with Rotten Tomatoes scores.

Copilot’s visual representation on the Samsung TV is a unique animated blob, a design choice reflecting Microsoft’s 2024 redesign aimed at creating a more user-friendly and personalized AI experience. This “companion” approach aims to make Copilot feel less like a productivity tool and more like an interactive presence in the home.

While full customization options are not yet available, the casual living room setting is a key step in achieving this goal. This isn’t limited to Samsung; Microsoft also confirmed Copilot’s inclusion in LG’s 2025 TV lineup.

Accessing Copilot on Samsung TVs is straightforward. Users can launch the app via the Apps Tab or by using a voice command. Once activated, the mic button on the remote enables voice interaction with the AI.

Although a Microsoft account is not mandatory, having one allows for enhanced personalization and the ability to reference previous conversations. This integration combines existing Samsung AI features, including automatic subtitle translation and object recognition.

The availability currently extends to specific 2025 Samsung TV models, including Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, and The Frame, as well as the M7, M8, and M9 Smart Monitors, in select markets.

This expansion underscores Microsoft’s broader strategy to embed Copilot into various aspects of users’ daily lives, making it a readily accessible AI companion across multiple platforms.
