The upcoming Robot Phone features a highly mobile pop-up camera that acts like a tiny companion. This little camera gimbal can nod its head to agree, shake side to side, and spin a full 360 degrees. During a live demo, the camera even bopped along to music.
Honor CEO James Li explained the engineering behind the device. He revealed that the phone uses the smallest micro motor in the entire industry, making it 70 percent smaller than current options. This tiny motor powers a four-degrees-of-freedom gimbal system with a massive 200-megapixel sensor.
Some users might worry about durability. Dust and heavy hands easily broke older phones that used mechanical cameras. Honor claims its experience with folding screens helped engineers shrink the camera module while keeping the tough materials needed for daily use.
To maximize the hardware, Honor built advanced camera software and partnered with ARRI Image Science. Features like AI Object Tracking follow subjects smoothly, while the ARRI partnership brings professional movie colors and depth to mobile videos.
Honor did not stop at phones. The company also brought a full-sized humanoid robot to the stage. Simply called the Honor Robot, the machine danced, performed a backflip, and shook hands with the CEO. Honor plans to put this robot to work in both homes and factories as part of a massive new artificial intelligence strategy.
