Key Points:

  • Dyson introduced the PencilWash, its slimmest wet floor cleaner.
  • The device weighs just over two kilograms and has a 1.5-inch handle.
  • It can lie almost flat to clean under low furniture.
  • The filter-less design aims to prevent trapped dirt and smells.

Dyson is back with another super-slim cleaning gadget. After launching the “world’s slimmest vacuum” last year, the company has now revealed the PencilWash. This new device aims to be the thinnest and lightest wet floor cleaner on the market, offering a simple solution for mopping up spills and stains.

The main selling point of the PencilWash is its sleek, compact design, just like the vacuum it is named after; the handle measures only 1.5 inches in diameter. The entire machine weighs a little more than two kilograms (about 4.4 pounds), making it easy to carry around the house. Dyson claims this slender frame lets the cleaner lie almost completely flat, allowing it to reach into tight corners and under low furniture where bulkier mops cannot go.

Dyson engineers focused on hygiene when building this device. The company says the PencilWash only uses fresh water to clean your floors. It features a high-density microfiber roller that can handle both wet messes and dry debris in a single pass. After it cleans, the floor should dry quickly.

The company also made a surprising choice by getting rid of the traditional filter. Without a filter, there is no place for wet, trapped dirt to sit and grow smelly bacteria. This filter-less design aims to solve one of the most common complaints about other wet floor cleaners.

The PencilWash has a modern feel. A small screen located just above the power buttons shows the remaining battery life, so you know exactly how much time you have left to clean. When you are finished, the entire handle slots neatly into a charging dock, where it can sit until the next spill happens.

For those eager to get their hands on this new gadget, the price is set at $349. However, Dyson has not yet announced an official release date.
