The three-row electric SUV market in North America has long been underserved — until now. Hyundai’s all-new Ioniq 9 fills this critical gap with bold styling, ample room, and high-end electric performance, starting at $58,955.

Built in Savannah, Georgia, the Ioniq 9 stretches nearly 199 inches, making it Hyundai’s largest SUV, even longer than the Palisade. Yet, thanks to its sleek design and 0.269 drag coefficient, it looks more like a Volvo wagon than a bulky hauler. Though the front end might be plain, the tapered rear gives it a refined, aerodynamic profile.

Step inside, and the Ioniq 9 reveals its true strength: space and comfort. Third-row access is smooth, with surprising headroom and usable legroom even for adults. Hyundai includes 100-watt USB-C ports in all three rows, which is a standout feature. Upper trims offer heated and ventilated captain’s chairs in the second row, while the front seats include massage functions and leg rests, ideal for breaks during charging.

Speaking of charging, the Ioniq 9 runs on the E-GMP platform with an 800-volt architecture, supporting up to 350 kW fast charging. A 10–80% charge takes just 24 minutes. While it includes a Tesla-style NACS plug, the car still relies on CCS for max speed charging — the adapter comes included.

The large 110.3-kWh battery provides up to 335 miles of range in the single-motor RWD model. Dual-motor AWD variants, depending on trim, offer 303 to 422 horsepower and around 311 miles of range.

On the road, the Ioniq 9 excels in comfort, especially at cruising speeds. While 21-inch wheels on the top trim cause some bumpiness at low speeds, highway driving is serene, aided by sound-canceling glass and tech.

Inside, two 12.3-inch displays handle infotainment, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Interior materials are premium up top, but cheaper plastics are found lower down. At the top end, the $79,540 Calligraphy Performance AWD model rivals premium EVs like the Rivian R1S but delivers more comfort and family-friendly practicality.
