  • Nebius’ market capitalization could increase by approximately $7.7 billion if the gains hold.

Nebius Group (NBIS.O) experienced a dramatic stock surge on Tuesday, climbing nearly 55% to $99.2 per share. This significant jump was directly attributed to the company’s newly announced $17.4 billion contract with Microsoft (MSFT.O). The agreement, spanning five years, will see Nebius provide crucial AI infrastructure to support Microsoft’s rapidly expanding AI operations.

The deal’s potential value could reach $19.4 billion if Microsoft’s demand increases, highlighting the immense growth projected in the AI sector.

The massive influx of investment underscores the burgeoning need for robust AI data centers worldwide. The global race to develop advanced generative AI technologies is driving unprecedented demand, and Nebius is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend.

This substantial deal is expected to add approximately $7.7 billion to Nebius’ current market capitalization of $15.3 billion, solidifying its position in the industry. The company’s stock has already more than doubled in value this year, further demonstrating investor confidence.

Analysts, such as Alexander Platt of DA Davidson, are optimistic about Nebius’ prospects. Platt stated that the company is strategically positioned to attract other high-profile clients in the burgeoning AI market, including other major technology companies and cutting-edge AI research labs. Nebius is actively expanding its data center capacity, presenting further opportunities for growth.

This significant deal with Microsoft mirrors a similar multi-billion dollar agreement Microsoft has with CoreWeave (CRWV.O), another major provider of AI computing resources. Nebius, a spinoff from Russian tech giant Yandex’s assets and based in Amsterdam, will primarily utilize its new data center in Vineland, New Jersey, to provide Microsoft with dedicated GPU infrastructure.

This infrastructure, built on Nvidia (NVDA.O) computing, will offer Microsoft the necessary software and hardware tools for developing and running AI models. The deployment is scheduled to begin later this year.
