Samsung is breaking new ground for competitive gamers with the Odyssey OLED G6, the world’s first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor. For years, gamers had to choose between super-fast refresh rates or the rich, vibrant colors of an OLED screen. Now, they can have both.

Priced at $1,000, the 27-inch monitor combines a blisteringly fast 500Hz refresh rate and a near-instant .03ms response time with the deep blacks and vibrant colors that OLED panels are known for. This means games will not only look incredible but will also run with the buttery-smooth motion that competitive players demand.

This is a no-frills, purpose-built machine. It lacks Samsung’s smart TV features and isn’t the brightest monitor on the market, making it ideal for a room with limited sunlight. But for gamers who want the best possible image quality without sacrificing speed, this monitor is designed to deliver. It’s also a great option for photo or video editors, thanks to its excellent color accuracy.

Alongside the new G6, Samsung is also releasing two new models in its Odyssey G7 line. There’s a 37-inch 4K curved model with a 165Hz refresh rate for $900, and a larger 40-inch ultra-wide version with a slightly faster 180Hz refresh rate for $1,200.

All three new monitors are on sale today. Still, the standout is clearly the Odyssey OLED G6, which finally ends the trade-off between speed and color for high-end gaming.
